Cacciatore To Manage St. Lucie

Posted Monday, February 5, 2007

Frank Cacciatore, who guided Hagerstown through a challenging season in 2006, will manage Class A St. Lucie in 2007.

Interestingly, many of Cacciatore's players from 2006 migrated during last season from Hagerstown (replaced for 2007 by Savannah in the South Atlantic League), including starting outfield prospect Fernando Martinez, who is expected to start the season at St. Lucie. Although the Suns played well for Cacciatore, his roster was decimated by players being promoted to St. Lucie or being sent out to reenforce struggling Brooklyn.

Before joining the Mets prior to last season, Cacciatore was a widely respected hitting coach for the Washington Nationals/Montreal Expos.
