Mets Complete Alomar Trifecta, Sign Jr.

Posted Monday, February 19, 2007

From Flushing University.com:

The Mets signed Sandy Alomar Jr., 40, to a minor-league deal Monday, making him the third Alomar in recent history to wear a Mets' uniform. His brother, Robby played second based at the beginning of the downturn of his great career, while Sandy Alomar Sr. is in his third season as a Mets' coach. The elder Alomar played for the Mets in 1967.

The veteran catcher hit .278 last season with the Dodgers and the White Sox. He is expected to compete with Ramon Castro for the backup catcher job.
