Sorry about the lack of updates — a combination of health and technology issues (a long story about Cory Lidle and helping to find meaning in his death was eaten by the tech gods) has kept me from posting.
While Mets' fans might be panicked to see the NLCS tied after two games — with Steve Trachsel and Oliver Perez the next two starting pitchers — things aren't so dire. Sure, the Mets tried and failed to add Dave Williams after the rainout, but keep in mind the Cardinals are just as banged up, with a brittle bullpen an injured third baseman and sketchy starting pitching. In other words, there's a reason St. Louis won only 83 games this season.
Going into Saturday night's game i think a bigger key is whether Jose Reyes will continue his hot hitting and when David Wright will get going. While Carlos Beltran and Carlos Delgado have put up the big numbers - the Mets' real hot streaks all season have been sparked by Wright and Reyes. If those two hit, the Mets will win.
Trachsel may also be a surprise tonight, too.—MM
