This is one of those grain of salt ones:
Got a call from someone today telling me that Glavine has decided he wants to play with the Braves. Problem is: Braves aren't sure they want to spend $8 million a year on him and won't budge on the no-trade clause.
Glavine basically has a $11 million deal, with an easy vesting option for $9 million more in the second year and a full no trade from the Mets, allegedly.
The Mets have gotten wind of this reportedly and might be rethinking their position — having decided to go hard after Zito, anyway. Glavine may have painted himself in a corner, here.
While I'm not treating like the word of law, it's a less dubious suggestion than Humberto Sanchez/Melky Cabrera for Dontrelle Willis — which allegedly had a lot of people in stitches.—MM
